Multicultural Affairs

Multicultural Affairs offers co-curricular and extra-curricular educational programs, resources, training and services that foster a positive climate for diversity. We are committed to the success of all students who face challenges to college attainment in order to improve the retention of underrepresented students. Students considered historically or traditionally “underrepresented” in higher education include first generation, low income, BIPOC (both domestic and international), members of some religious or spiritual backgrounds, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Through engaging with Multicultural Affairs, students can learn and apply the following skills, knowledge, and awareness to prepare them to be leaders in a globally diverse community and workforce:

• Awareness of how culture and social identities shape our worldview;
• Development of allyship that leverages power and privilege in a pro-social manner;
• Confront and address microaggressions, implicit bias, and non-inclusive language;
• Engage in dialogue about inclusion and equity for individuals and groups;
• Apply classroom or academic lessons to real world situations and social problems;
• Identify and access resources for support and advocacy on and on campus.

University of Bridgeport launches its first Diversity and Equity Campus Climate Survey

University of Bridgeport prides ourselves on being a diverse community and endeavor to have every community member feel a sense of belonging. We know that our University is stronger when all of our voices are heard. We also know that there is room to strengthen diversity, equity, and inclusion on campus; to that end, we launched the Diversity and Equity Campus Climate Survey. The survey results, administered by The Higher Education Data Sharing Consortium (HEDS), are available below.
